Tom and George: An Announcement

I’m delighted (and hugely relieved) to announce that I’ve just completed the first draft of Tom and George.

Many different factors have come together to get in the way of the much earlier completion I’d have wished for, so it’s very satisfying to have reached this point at last. There’s still a good deal of work, and several more drafts, to get the book into a state fit for publication, but this a major milestone, and certainly reflects the vast bulk of the time the project is likely to consume.

One of the reasons it’s taken such a time is that the book has turned out to be much longer than I’d originally expected. I now look back on my early concerns that I might have barely enough material for even a short book with a mixture of disbelief and amusement. I’m sure that the second draft will be somewhat shorter, but this is still going to be a substantial volume. And I feel that these boys—Tom in particular—deserve nothing less.

A small celebration

Now on to the next draft!

Spread the love

  11. Loved Tom and George. Was glad to hear more their stories. Am longing to learn how The story of Daisy and Eddie concludes and how the rest of the family is. I really hope another book will be coming soon. I have reread the series twice, something I rarely do and have found it more enjoyable each time. Truly a classic.
