Victorian Heritage in Oamaru

Last month we attended the Oamaru Victorian festival, an annual event when this South Island town celebrates its Victorian heritage making fine use of its wealth of 19th century buildings. It was three years since we last managed to get to the festival, but we were delighted to recognise and be recognised by several stalwarts.

It’s always a thoroughly enjoyable occasion, and this year was no exception.

      1. Hi Sandy,

The short answer is that I don’t yet know 🙂 I’m working on two books currently, but they’re both a fair way off being finished.

  2. Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your books. As a self published author, I know how much time, effort and love goes into each book. Can you tell me approximately how long it took to finish your first book? Does it get any easier with the following ones?

I read a lot. Some stories leave no impact. Amy’s story wakes me up in the middle of the night. While I was reading I would worry about her. Now I just keep mulling it over, picking out the parts that really stuck out for me. Thank you and I will definitely be checking out the rest of your books.

    1. Thanks so much, Joanne. It’s great to hear how much Amy’s story has drawn you in.

The first three books took me a looong time – I’d almost measure it in decades. I don’t think I’ll ever be a fast writer – even now it tends to take me three years to complete a book. I’d love to get that down to one year, but with the amount of research I need to do I’m not sure I’ll ever manage that. I’m very grateful for the patience of my readers!

  3. Hello Shayne:

I just finished reading Sentence of Marriage. I thoroughly enjoyed your writing. I feel sad for Amy and anyone who has had her type of experience. I’m so glad that today, girls can keep their babies. Far worse things can happen in life than having a child out of wedlock.

I am now about to begin reading Mud & Gold and from there will look forward to reading Settling the Account.

    1. Hi Mary Kate,
Yes, I have, as it happens, so it’s great to see that there’s interest! I’m not sure when I’ll have time for this project, but I do look forward to doing this some day.
